Corbin Carroll robs potential 3-run HR before Giants distribute it to D-backs

Corbin Carroll saved three runs but couldn't save the other seven the San Francisco Giants would score in the first three innings of an 11-0 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Early in the second inning, D-backs starter Brandon Pfaadt allowed a solo home run and then allowed two Giants to reach base before Mike Yastrzemski hit a deep fly ball to right center.

Carroll kept a close eye on it, holding off midfielder Jake McCarthy and timing his jump to erase San Francisco's early 4-0 lead.

However, the D-Backs were unable to match Carroll's incredible play.

In the next inning, San Francisco again quickly put two runners up against Pfaadt, and this time a deep fly ball from Michael Conforto was a three-run home run to restore the 4-0 lead that Carroll took away. After a walk and a groundout, Arizona retired Pfaadt after just 2.2 innings. Reliever Blake Walston then hit his own three-run home run to make the Giants' score 7-0.

San Francisco added an extra run in the fourth, two more in the fifth and another in the eighth.

The D-Backs only managed six hits and two walks on offense. They were 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position.
