76ers' Paul George gives positive quote on knee injury

On Sunday, the Philadelphia 76ers provided an update on seven-time All-Star center Joel Embiid. After it was announced that Embiid would miss the team's entire preseason, fans felt uneasy ahead of Monday night's game against the Atlanta Hawks.

An injury scare in the second quarter will certainly further shake things up for the 76ers.

Just minutes into the second quarter, the Sixers saw their nine-time All-Star forward Paul George shaken up. After going to the locker room to be examined by the team's medical staff, George was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

It turned out that the striker was struggling with a hyperextended knee. The severity of the injury is currently unknown.

After the game, George made himself available to reporters to address the incident. The All-Star forward said he was “not too worried” about the setback The investigator's Gina Mizell. George is expected to complete the treatment on Monday evening and continue as needed.

Although George's personal update does not provide a possible timeline, the outlook is positive so far. When 76ers head coach Nick Nurse addressed reporters for a routine news conference after the game, the head coach expressed hope that the setback won't keep George off the field for long.

Over the summer, the Sixers acquired George via free agency. After five years with the Los Angeles Clippers, George declined his player option and became an unrestricted free agent. There were several options on the table for George, but he was intrigued enough by the Sixers and their offer to sign him to a long-term contract.

The star trio of George, Embiid and Tyrese Maxey have not yet had the opportunity to share the court in a game. With Embiid out for the first four preseason games and beyond, the earliest the trio could debut is Oct. 23, when the Sixers host the Milwaukee Bucks to open the season.

While this date still represents a possible opportunity for his debut, recent events surrounding Embiid and George currently raise some uncertainty.
