5 surprising highlights from the Commanders' blowout win over the Panthers in Week 7

Dan Quinn must be thrilled with the reaction he received from his players during their win against the Carolina Panthers in Week 7. This was a complete team effort. They are once again easily facing one of the bottom teams in the league. It was another sign that Washington commanders were on the right track under the new regime.

The Panthers aren't necessarily world champions, and that's nice. However, it was extremely pleasing how Quinn kept his team focused and composed despite being heavily favored and struggling with injury problems.

Washington is hoping for good news on Jayden Daniels' rib injury. Brandon Coleman also adds his name to the growing list of health complications Quinn is dealing with. However, the professionalism and improved culture introduced by those in power are having the desired effect much sooner than expected.

With that in mind, here are five surprising highlights from Washington's impressive win over the Panthers at Northwest Stadium in Week 7.

Emmanuel Forbes Jr. – Commander CB

Credit where it's due.

Just a week removed from being a healthy scratch with the Baltimore Ravens, cornerback Emmanuel Forbes Jr. played 67 percent of defensive snaps in Week 7 against the Carolina Panthers. The Washington Commanders had the game won at halftime, which helped, but the former first-round pick still had an enjoyable performance.

Forbes even got involved when things were relatively competitive. The undersized defensive back provided the exclamation point with an interception – Andy Dalton's second of the afternoon. This was undoubtedly a huge confidence boost for the player after a difficult season so far.

The Commanders aren't ready to give up on Forbes just yet. They're taking things slowly with the Mississippi State product, but it won't take long for opinions to change as he builds off arguably the best performance of his professional career to date.
