49ers were silenced on offense by the Chiefs in a 28-18 loss

The San Francisco 49ers had a chance to get revenge for Super Bowl LVIII.

The stakes may not have been that high, but a win against the Kansas City Chiefs would have been crucial. Unfortunately, the 49ers couldn't get revenge on the Chiefs. as they were dominated in defeat.

This was a big game for the 49ers. They needed to win it to get back on track and overcome the mental hurdle the Chiefs have on them. It doesn't matter how much the players and coaches downplayed the hype surrounding this game. They had to win it for so many reasons.

Unfortunately, they played like any other game. Maybe they should have treated it as such instead of coming out of it lackluster. It worked against the Philadelphia Eagles last year when they treated this game like a real revenge week. They should have done that against the Chiefs. The 49ers didn't show much intensity in this match.

There didn't seem to be much fire burning in them. Several players showed that fire, but it wasn't the whole team. Rookie Malik Mustapha, Deommodore Lenoir and Nick Bosa showed the most fire of anyone on the team. It was clear that these players really wanted this win, which is crazy since Mustapha wasn't even there for the 49ers' Super Bowl loss.

No one else stood out enough to be mentioned for this, especially Brock Purdy. He left a lot to be desired today. Nothing from him was any good at all, which is disappointing. He has been solid this season and has made good progress despite the absence of Christian McCaffrey. But today he forced too many throws and deflected way too many passes at the line of scrimmage.

The Chiefs completely made Purdy look like a mediocre quarterback. He wasn't good in that game. In Purdy's defense, he didn't have Deebo Samuel. He didn't appear on the injury report until the last minute due to illness. Jauan Jennings was already out and Brandon Aiyuk left midway through the game with a knee injury. He was carted off to the locker room, so things are looking bad.

As usual, the 49ers defense came to the game against the Chiefs. The 49ers' offense didn't come into play. Kyle Shanahan acts like he's still partying with rapper Rick Ross. As bad as Purdy was today, his head coach and playcaller didn't help him much. It's fair to say that Shanahan has been the most disappointing aspect of the offense this season.

The season is starting to get dark for the 49ers. Having a 3-4 record as a team with Super Bowl aspirations is concerning. The NFC looks better than ever despite not even being able to produce an offense in a crucial matchup. Luckily, the 49ers are back at home next week against the Dallas Cowboys. This is a game they should win, but you never know with this team.

All you can know about the 2024 49ers this season is that they are underwhelming. Something has to change or the season will continue to be a scary roller coaster ride.
