4 trades for Cardinals' defense in 2024

I would like to see the Cardinals make these four trades to acquire much-needed talent on defense, which would thereby give the team a greater chance of trying to win the NFC West.

While it will require some capital to make these transactions happen, the key factor here is the concept of being able to retain at least three of the four players on the team's roster for 2025 and perhaps beyond.

  • Cardinals trade theirs 2025 4th round selection to the Giants for OLB/DE Azeez Ojulari and the Giants' 2025 6th round pick. If Azeez fits in, sign him to a three-year, $25 million deal with $14 million guaranteed.

  • Cardinals trade theirs 5th round pick in 2025 to the Titans for OLB/DE Arden Key. Key already has a contract for 2025 with a base salary of $6.5 million.

  • Cardinals trade the Giants' 6th round pick (acquired in Ojulari trade) to the Raiders for MLB Robert Spillane. Spillane is an instinctive and highly productive run-stuffer. He is a 2025 UFA who could be signed to an extension. 2024 PFF grades: 67.5 overall, 83.5 run defense. 79 tackles, 30 stops.

  • Cardinals trade WR Zay Jones to the Steelers for DT/DE Larry Ogunjobi. Has 33 career breaks and is under contract at a base salary of $4 million through 2025, when the team gives him a $3 million roster bonus on the third day of the new league year. The Steelers need WRs and the Cardinals need an interior pass rusher.
