2 studs, 1 dud from the Clippers' preseason win in San Diego

The LA Clippers picked up their first preseason win on Tuesday with a win over the Brooklyn Nets. The game took place at the Clippers' G League affiliate's new home in San Diego, Frontwave Arena.

A crowd of Clippers fans gathered to watch their favorite team compete. As Ty Lue pointed out recently, this team still has a long way to go, but even small victories like Tuesday's are something to be excited about when working with a roster full of new players like this.

Several of LA's new guys performed well in the win, and it looks like specific roles are being found for key players. There were several solid performances in this game, but we'll focus on two of the best and one of the worst here.

For the second day in a row, James Harden looked like himself again. Just as the point guard boldly stated, he appears to be in his best shape since his Houston Rockets days. Harden went downhill with ease in this one while showing off his vintage flair.

James finished with 14 points on efficient 6-for-9 shooting. The six turnovers were a bit concerning, but they don't overshadow his regained athleticism and hot shooting.

Nic Batum finished the game with a team-worst -6 in plus/minus and had a difficult time in his 10 minutes of playing time. He shot 0 of 4, missing all three of his three-point attempts.

Nic appears to be one of the Clippers' most important bench players this season, providing needed depth on the wing. If he continues to perform like this, it might be better if he just sits on the bench. Luckily, he probably won't have that big of a problem again.

One of the young players Clippers fans have been most excited about is Kai Jones, and he showed why again on Tuesday. Kai was the team's second-leading scorer on the night with 13 points and six of his eight shots.

In the second half he showed off his insane athletic ability and tried to pull off a crazy poster dunk. Jones is primed to be a standout prospect in Los Angeles this season, and he continues to show flashes of promise.
