2 people shot in Linda Vista – NBC 7 San Diego

Two people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds after an altercation at a Linda Vista gas station Friday morning turned into a shooting that also resulted in a crash, police said.

Police were called to the Chevron gas station at Ulric Street and Linda Vista Road around 5:30 a.m. for a report of multiple shootings and multiple victims, SDPD Officer O'Brien said.

At the gas station, witnesses reported that two people – a teenager and an adult man – got into a fight. Each then drew their weapons and shot at each other, Lt. Cody Turner of the San Diego Police Department. Everyone was hit at least once.

Both shooters fled the scene. Police then discovered an accident between a car and a box truck a few blocks away. The car was believed to be carrying the teen and two other people when it collided head-on with the truck, police said.

The police transported the teenager to the hospital. The second shooter fled the scene and was found by a passerby who transported the man to the hospital.

Both people were shot in the chest and suffered serious injuries that required them to be intubated, Turner said. The officer described them as “stable” since 10:30 a.m. One person was a juvenile and the other was an adult male, police said.

At the gas station, investigators found several bullet casings on the ground and several bullet holes embedded in a building. A witness's car had a flat tire after being hit by a bullet.

Investigators are seeking witnesses and surveillance video to assist in the investigation.

This is a developing story and details may change as information is released.
